Are you getting married soon? Here’s everything you need to consider before booking your dream wedding
You’ve whittled your choice of venues down to a short-list but now you want to move forward with finding the perfect spot. There’s no denying booking the venue is one of the most daunting moments of the entire planning-a-wedding process, but it can also be one of the most exciting and exhilarating when you know you’ve found the perfect venue for your big day. No doubt, you’ll want to plan a number of meetings with your top list choices before you dive in with booking, so here’s a list of the top things to consider before that all-important meeting.
Your wedding date
It’s good to have an idea of when you would like your wedding celebration whether that be a summer garden party or a winter wonderland themed bash! If your heart is set on a summer wedding, then a venue with beautiful gardens would work best. Whereas if you are looking for a cosy winter affair, a setting with indoor fires and lots of comfy chairs for those intimate chats could be the one for you.
How many guests do you want?
Again it’s important to have in mind the number of people you want at your wedding before you pick your venue. Some locations will be set up for a full-on celebration where you can invite a large number of loved-ones, while others are perfect for an intimate do, where guests can enjoy a good catch in a quieter setting.
Can I hold my ceremony at the venue?
Having your ceremony and reception at the same location can be a huge money-saver, as you can use the same flowers and decorations and you won’t need transport. Another bonus to this kind of wedding is you’ll only need to co-ordinate with one event manager.
So when you go into a meeting with the venue make sure this is one of your top questions.
If they don’t offer the ceremony in their setting, they might have useful tips of where you can host one nearby.
Decorating the venue
Everyone has their own little touches that they want to include on their wedding day, including things like table centrepieces, table name cards, name place cards, chair drapes, and favours. All these things take time to set up, so check if your venue will give you early access time or a dedicated wedding co-ordinator to help get all these things set up. Even better, some venues offer you the opportunity to drop off your name cards, wedding favours and decorations the week of your wedding and then set them up for you. So make sure in your first meeting you know what the venue offers.
It’s important to check with your venue if they have any restrictions that would impact upon anything you’d like to do on your wedding day – Your big day should be unique & just how you imagined. Here’s a list of the top things to check with your venue:
- Are you able to use any suppliers you like, or do you need to use suppliers on their recommended list?
- Are you allowed to bring pets to your ceremony?
- Do they have parking available on site?
- Are you allowed confetti?
- Is there space for me to get ready in the morning?
- What is the capacity?
- Are you allowed to decorate the venue the way you would like?
